Iran and New Zealand played out a 2-2 draw in their Group G encounter at SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, on Monday, June 15. The Group Stage match saw New Zealand take the lead twice, only for Iran to respond on both occasions.

E. Just opened the scoring for New Zealand in the 7th minute, assisted by C. Wood. Iran equalised through R. Rezaeian in the 32nd minute. New Zealand regained their lead after the break when E. Just scored his second goal of the game in the 54th minute, once again assisted by C. Wood. M. Mohebi levelled the score for Iran in the 64th minute, with R. Rezaeian providing the assist.

The match saw a number of substitutions, with Iran making four changes: M. Ghaedi replaced A. Yousefi (46'), A. Alipour came on for S. Moghanlou (53'), E. Hajsafi substituted S. Ghoddos (65'), and A. Hosseinzadeh replaced M. Taremi (80'). New Zealand made five substitutions: B. Old replaced L. Cacace (68'), R. Thomas came on for C. McCowatt (68'), C. Elliot substituted T. Payne (78'), J. Randall replaced S. Singh (90+2'), and T. Bindon came on for M. Stamenic (90+2'). The only card of the game was a yellow shown to Iran's E. Hajsafi in the 89th minute.
