South Africa defeated South Korea 1-0 in a Group A match during the Group Stage on Wednesday, June 24, at Estadio BBVA, Monterrey. The only goal of the game came in the second half.

T. Maseko opened the scoring for South Africa in the 63rd minute with an open play goal, assisted by T. Moremi.

The match saw two yellow cards issued. South Africa's Aubrey Modiba was booked in the 73rd minute, followed by South Korea's Gue-sung Cho in the 79th minute.

A series of substitutions were made throughout the game. For South Korea, Son Heung-Min, Kim Jin-Gyu, and J. Castrop all came on in the 46th minute, replacing Hwang Hee-Chan, Paik Seung-Ho, and Lee Tae-Seok respectively. T. Moremi was introduced for South Africa in the 62nd minute, replacing O. Appollis.
