    Notable absentees

This is Sweden's first World Cup since 2018 (when they reached the quarter-finals). New head coach Graham Potter took over the team in late 2025 and salvaged qualification through the UEFA playoffs — sealed by a Viktor Gyökeres hat-trick against Poland. Sweden are in Group F with Netherlands, Japan, and Tunisia, opening against Tunisia on June 14 in Mexico. With Alexander Isak (Liverpool) and Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal) leading the attack, Sweden have one of the most fearsome striker pairings at the tournament.
